Less of Me Became More of Me

It is the beginning of a life that has room to become specific again.

ONE is for the woman who has spent enough time watching circumstances make decisions on her behalf. She may have entered through health, through menopause, through loss, through ambition, or through a quiet morning when she finally admitted that she wanted more from the life she already had.

Here, beauty is not decoration. A room, a dress, a book, a meal, a journey and a well-chosen word can all become evidence of self-recognition. We will talk about the body, certainly. But we will also talk about the mind that directs it, the identity that inhabits it and the world a woman begins to make when she sees herself as the author again.

This first issue is called The Return. Not because we are going backward. Because somewhere beneath all the adapting, postponing and apologizing, we discover that we are still here—and we have choices to make.
